SCARPERIA (FI) - Il Toscana Terra di Ciclismo si apre nel segno dei colori azzurri grazie al successo del bergamasco Enrico Barbin della Nazionale Italiana, vincitore al termine della prima tappa che ha portato la carovana dal Norcenni Girasole Club di Figline sul traguardo di Scarperia. L'azzurro, al secondo successo stagionale dopo la vittoria nella Piccola Sanremo, ha battuto allo sprint i due compagni di fuga Alexey Lutsenko del Kazakhistan e Jan Tratnik della Slovenia, ultimi reduci della fuga di dodici unita' che ha animato l'intera tappa. Ospiti d'onore alla partenza della prima tappa sono stati Vim Backers, patron della Vacansoleil, e Claudio Cardini presidente del gruppo Ec Vacanze. Per Barbin, oltre alla gioia del successo, anche la maglia di leader della classifica generale, firmata da Regione Toscana. Domani seconda tappa da Figline Valdarno a Gaiole in Chianti di 130 chilometri.
"Non pensavamo certo di arrivare al traguardo" ha commentato dopo l'arrivo Enrico Barbin. "Avevamo tutti l'ordine di stare in guardia fin dall'inizio e di entrare nelle fughe numerose. Quando ho visto muoversi nazionali quotate come il Belgio e la Francia, mi sono fiondato dentro e mi e' andata bene". Adesso c'e' da difendere questa maglia. "Siamo una squadra fortissima, con ragazzi che vanno davvero bene in salita. Quindi vogliamo continuare cosi' fino alla fine".
